Professor Riley is a visiting professor at the College of Europe in Natolin and a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington, DC. He specializes in EU law, competition law and energy law. He has written extensively on energy security issues over the past two decades. In practice since 2015, he has been a member of the Advisory Committee of the Energy Community, its judicial panel, applying EU energy law to the non-EU Balkan states of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova. Most recently, he served as advisor to the Prime Minister of Moldova on energy security. Previously, Professor Riley held the Chair of International Trade Law at City St Georges, University of London. He is also co-founder of the Competition Law Scholars Forum and has written extensively on EU, energy, legal and security issues for the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal and New York Times.
